En Vogue - Live at Blockorama 15 - Toronto Pride 2013

En Vogue, the Funky Diva's, headlined this year's Blockorama stage at Toronto Pride 2013!

Even though Dawn Robinson and Maxine Jones are no longer part of this incarnation of En Vogue, we still have original members Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron and new addition Rhona "Satisfied" Bennett!

It was still great to see them live, since I was a bit too young to go to concerts back in the 90's. Here is a selection of videos I filmed from their performance. Enjoy!

HAUS 101 - SATURDAY, FEB. 16, 2013 - Black History Month Edition!

DJ San Fran, DJ Marty Rotman & DJ Relentless are back with their second HAUS 101 event, but at The Vic Public House (580 Church Street, Toronto) on February 16th. And since it's Black History Month, we are making this event a benefit for the Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (BLACK-CAP).

Three of Toronto's Underground House DJ's have come together to mastermind a new movement on the scene....HAUS 101! We believe that there should be a place to go to on Church Street for those who love real Soulful House, Deep Tracks and Disco that eventually birthed what we know as House Music today.

We want to create a dancefloor where Loleatta Holloway, Robert Owens, First Choice, Roy Ayers, and Chaka Khan are still welcomed. A floor where Dennis Ferrer and Kerri Chandler could be mixed in without clearing the floor because it's not the Pop Commercial hits of the day. Where legends like Frankie Knuckles, Larry Levan and Mr. Fingers produced and mixed those tracks that inspired so many DJ's around the world. We want to hear the sounds that changed the history of music forever!

So, if you think Deadmau5 or Tiesto is House Music....this is not the party for you!

CALLING ALL HOUSE HEADZ! LET'S BRING HOUSE MUSIC BACK TO CHURCH STREET!

The dance floor opens at 10 PM. $5 Cover.

Big Freedia, The Queen Diva - Live at Lee's Palace, Toronto 2013

The Queen of New Orleans Bounce, the one and only Big Freedia, made a stop in Toronto on her 2013 tour. Even though it was freezing outside, she heated up Lee's Palace with her unmistakeable take on Bounce music and got everyone twerkin'!

HAUS 101 - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2012

Let us give you a taste of what is to come in 2013. Let DJ San Fran, DJ Marty Rotman and DJ Relentless give you a true House Music Experience. Come get your education on the past and the future of House Music. Doors open at 5:00 PM and we go until the party stops. Early enough for those who have to work the next day and can be open as late as 2:00 AM if needed.

Finally, a place for the real House Headz to come together and celebrate our history. This is the music that started it all for the dance scene that is happening today.
